Ingredients

  • 1 (46 oz) can tomato juice, chilled
  • 2 oz vodka
  • 1/2 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 oz fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 tsp hot sauce (like Tabasco)
  • 1/4 tsp celery salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper
  • Ice cubes
  • 1 celery stalk for garnish
  • 1 lemon wedge for garnish
  • 1 lime wedge for garnish

Instructions

  1. 1

Step 1: Fill a tall glass with ice cubes — don't be stingy, you want it good and cold.

  2. 2

Step 2: Pour 2 ounces of vodka into the glass over the ice.

  3. 3

Step 3: Add 4 ounces of that chilled tomato juice to the vodka and stir real good.

  4. 4

Step 4: Squeeze in the fresh lemon juice and fresh lime juice — don't use that bottled stuff, it ain't the same.

  5. 5

Step 5: Add the Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, celery salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper all at once.

  6. 6

Step 6: Stir everything together for about 30 seconds until it's well mixed and the flavors start to come together.

  7. 7

Step 7: Top the glass off with more tomato juice until it's nearly full, then stir one more time.

  8. 8

Step 8: Taste it — if you want it a little hotter, add more hot sauce; if you want it spicier, shake in more cayenne.

  9. 9

Step 9: Grab that celery stalk and set it in the glass like you mean it — that's your straw and your vegetable right there.

  10. 10

Step 10: Pop a lemon and lime wedge on the rim and serve it right away while it's still ice cold.

Pro Tips

  • Use fresh-squeezed lemon and lime juice every single time — it makes a real difference in how bright and clean this drink tastes.
  • Keep your tomato juice and glasses in the refrigerator before you make it; a warm Bloody Mary is nobody's idea of a good time.
