Cooking tutorial
Ingredients
- 1 stick (8 tbsp) unsalted butter
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cans (29 oz each) sliced peaches in syrup, undrained
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for the peaches)
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
Instructions
- 1
Preheat your oven to 350°F and put that stick of butter in a 9x13-inch baking dish, then slide it in the oven just until the butter melts completely.
- 2
While the butter's melting, whisk together the flour, 1 cup sugar, milk, baking powder, salt, and vanilla in a bowl until it's nice and smooth with no lumps.
- 3
Take the baking dish out of the oven and pour that batter right over the melted butter — don't stir it, just let it sit there.
- 4
In another bowl, mix your peaches with their syrup, the 1/2 cup sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg, then spoon all those peaches and juice over the batter, again without stirring.
- 5
Bake for 40 to 45 minutes until the top is golden brown and the edges are bubbling up nice and thick.
- 6
Let it cool for about 10 minutes before serving so nobody burns their mouth, then scoop it warm into bowls with vanilla ice cream on top.
Pro Tips
- ★Fresh peaches work beautiful too — you'll need about 6 cups sliced with 1/2 cup water added since they don't have that syrup.
- ★That batter is gonna look like it's sinking and the peaches are taking over, but trust the process — it bakes up into layers of perfect cobbler magic.
