Old Fashioned Lemonade
Now this is the real deal lemonade that'll have folks coming back for more on a hot summer day. None of that powdered stuff — just fresh lemons, sugar, and cold water mixed up sweet and tart just right. This is the kind of lemonade that makes Sunday dinner complete, especially when you've got fried chicken or barbecue on the table.

- 1 1/2 cups fresh lemon juice (about 8 to 10 lemons)
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup water (for the simple syrup)
- 8 cups cold water
- Ice cubes
- Lemon slices for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- 1
Roll your lemons on the counter with your palm to get them nice and juicy, then cut them in half and squeeze out all that fresh juice into a bowl. Strain out the seeds and set the juice aside.
- 2
In a small pot, combine the sugar and 1 cup of water. Heat it over medium heat, stirring until all that sugar dissolves completely — this takes about 3 to 5 minutes. Let this simple syrup cool down for a few minutes.
- 3
In a big pitcher, pour in your fresh lemon juice and the cooled simple syrup. Stir it real good to mix everything together.
- 4
Add the 8 cups of cold water and stir again. Taste it and add more sugar if you like it sweeter, or more lemon juice if you want it more tart.
- 5
Fill up glasses with ice, pour that beautiful lemonade over top, and drop in a lemon slice if you're feeling fancy. Serve it ice cold.
Pro Tips
- ★Make your simple syrup ahead of time and keep it in the fridge — that way you can whip up fresh lemonade anytime without waiting for it to cool.
- ★If your lemons are hard, microwave them for about 10 seconds before rolling and squeezing — you'll get way more juice out of them that way.
